For this third blog, I thought I would be honest about why I am writing it. My main goal is to continuously provide you with updates on Libert\u00e9\u2019s start-up journey and the emotions I experience throughout this adventure. <\/p>

I am writing this blog for the people around me and those I know, hoping they can relate to it and share feedback or advice that may be beneficial. The other reason is to hold myself accountable for my actions and commitments. I strongly believe that success increases when we publicly commit to certain actions. <\/p>

I have seen the results when I committed to family, friends, and coworkers that I would train for an upcoming marathon with the goal of improving my personal best time by 2\u20133%. This public commitment pushed me to persevere through the demanding training required for a marathon. After nearly ten years of doing this, I now run two half-marathons, two full marathons, and one 50 km trail race every year. This public commitment motivates me to train every week, averaging about 75 km per week. <\/p>

take my public commitments very seriously. When I started this blog and began the Libert\u00e9 journey, I approached it with the same level of commitment. <\/p>

Yesterday, I committed to figuring out how to transition from full-time employment to becoming an entrepreneur with no revenue. Being risk-averse and wanting to continue contributing to my family’s financial needs, here is the plan: <\/p>

Step 1: Quit my job<\/strong>Step 2: Take a temporary consulting position<\/strong>Step 3: Launch Libert\u00e9’s operations<\/strong><\/p>

It seems simple enough, and some of you may wonder why I would take Step 2 instead of quitting my job and launching Libert\u00e9 immediately. <\/p>

The answer lies in risk management. There are certain risks I am not willing to take, especially putting my family\u2019s finances at risk. I do not want to go into debt or jeopardize my children’s future education funds. <\/p>

To reduce this risk, I calculated that I would need approximately one full year of salary to support Libert\u00e9 during its first year. Since our house and cars are fully paid off, I started saving some time ago. However, I have not yet accumulated a full year\u2019s salary. <\/p>

Consulting work will allow me to continue saving while preparing for Libert\u00e9\u2019s launch. Another reason is that my current employer has a strict policy against moonlighting or starting a business while employed. I fully respect this policy and will not begin Libert\u00e9 operations while I remain employed. <\/p>

My goal is to operate Libert\u00e9 full-time by February 1, 2021.<\/strong><\/p>

In the meantime, I have already started looking for consulting opportunities. I have also purchased the necessary tools and equipment (a cell phone and laptop) and officially incorporated the business, ensuring full compliance with Canada Revenue Agency requirements with the assistance of legal advisors. <\/p>

This is one of the advantages of still being employed while preparing a new business: I have the income needed to purchase the required equipment and cover incorporation-related legal fees without putting my family at financial risk.<\/p>
