The Airstream impact

The Airstream impact

I identified the fact that I am in the final process of retrofitting a 1962 vintage Airtsream Overlander. This process involves a lot of work and basically taking the entire trailer apart, called a shell-off restoration, and replace everything but the exterior shell. Even there, I had to replace a few panels of the exterior shell. This process highlighted a few key principles that I am incorporating in the design of Liberté. The first thing is artistic design that allows branding. Liberté will require a unique design, appealing to the eyes, to make it unique on the market. The second

Liberté's Unique Product

Liberté’s Unique Product

I believe that in order for Liberté to be successful in the caravan renting space, its core product should be designed for renters. The problem with current camping trailer designs is that they are not suited for first time users. Eventually, all rv owners learn how to use their units but it does take a few times to learn how to set up and prepare for safe towing. This will simply not work to create a good customer experience for renters. I will have to design and build my own caravans to meet renter’s needs. I am thinking of the

A Vision of getting the message out there

A Vision of getting the message out there

There are lots of ways to market a new product or service. My goal is to make it fun for me. So why not combine fun social events with getting the message out there about Liberté. I envision outdoor social gatherings of different forms and types with invitation to a network of people that will hopefully grow over time. For example, I see a tailgate party on a Friday night at Carleton University after the running room speed workout classes. I also see a social beer tasting at a micro brewery where 2-3 Liberté’s are parked outside and hosting different

So I booked a date, Friday May 3rd, as an official launch date for this website. Since Liberté will first launch in the Ottawa and Montreal areas, I am focusing my marketing to physical events through peers, friends and family. So we will see how a wine and cheese event will work. What is the worst that can happen, I run out of cheese, or that I have excess wine. These don’t seem like a big risk. So I need to get the website ready. I am not a design person ( the mechanical engineer and project manager in me)

What’s Next

Since I decided to start Liberté, I contiuously think about the next steps. It positively consumes mental energy and I have summarized a Kanban board around Liberté’s next steps. These categories will continously evolve over time but in order to seriously make Liberté a success, I need to ensure progession for the following categories of work business start-up activities product design customer journey technology Finance It seems like a lot of things but I generated a and list small broken down tasks that I can complete every day. For example, I registered the website and company name, I prepared a

The Customer Journey

The Customer Journey

Being involved at my current employement as the sponsor of a business analyst community of practice as well with the hundreds of entrepreneur and business books I read and listened to over the years, I truly believe that in order to have a successful company, I need to start with the customer. And I did that. I authored a customer journey map to identify different personas ( a personal idenfier of a customer group ), and the associated touchpoint and feelings the customer would get with Liberté throughout its entire journey. As a starting point, I started with a family
